Best Brunch Spots in the city

Although brunch isn’t traditionally common in Barcelona as in other cites in Europe, it is becoming a huge trend. There are so many brunch spots in the city that you would spend a lifetime trying them all. Here are the best and the trendiest places you must try!

Marmalade

Marmalade serves a good brunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4.30pm. Cure your laziness or hangover with juicy burgers, fluffy pancakes or a traditional English breakfast with bacon, eggs, sausages and baked beans. It’s located on a small square, only a few meters from Rambla del Raval. In the summer they set up tables outside so you can watch multi-cultural neighbourhood waking up while enjoying your breakfast. The “brunch” is available from Friday through Sunday until 16:30h.Prices are ok, as the portions are big.

La Esquina

La Esquina is a favourite amongst the foodies of Barcelona. Brunch here is a quintessential affair, sometimes a brunch isn’t a brunch without the classics. The menu includes Eggs Benedict, avocado and poached egg on toast, ham and cheese sandwich, chicken sandwich along with apple or blackberry crumble and yummy pancakes topped with maple syrup.

Brunch&Cake

This is the most famous brunch spot in Barcelona, and for good reason. They have several locations around the city, but my favourite is Brunch & Cake in Barceloneta. It is the perfect brunch spot to go to if you’re planning on spending sometime near the water. Their space and food are incredibly Instagrammable. Think vegan burgers with an “ice cream cone” on top, thick avocado toasts, fruit-decorated smoothies, and latte art.

Cosmo

Cosmo is located in one of the most beautiful streets of Barcelona. Calle Enric Granados in Eixample is mostly a pedestrian street. One café or restaurant after another lines the walkway and it opens out into the gardens of Barcelona University. There’s a terrace in the pedestrian zone, as most of the places here, so you can enjoy the breakfast in the sun. As it also features a gallery, the decoration is modern and creative and changes every few weeks.

Picnic

Picnic has a touch of hipster, together with passion for food, fresh ingredients and bit of courage for creativity. The breakfast, also announced as “brunch” here, offers next to the classic Eggs Benedice, Israelian Couscous, Mexian Huevos Rancheros, French Toast and much more.
